Description This unit covers convergence in probability and convergence in distribution with statistical applications, including properties of estimators, Slutsky's theorem, the delta method, and variance stabilising transformations. Multivariate extensions, including those based on bivariate and multivariate normal distributions and basic properties of these distributions. Assessment This comprises an end-of-semester examination and in-semester tests or assignments. All assessment tasks require students to apply their knowledge of the unit content to solve previously unseen problems. Students are expected to demonstrate that they have understood the theoretical basis of the topics discussed and appreciate the need for precision in statistical concepts. Credit is given for clarity and correctness of presentation as well as for actual results.Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit because the Faculty has been granted an exemption. |
