Finite groups with fixed-point-free automorphisms and vertex-transitive self-complementary graphs

Summary

Based on the Li-Praeger's theory on homogeneous factorisations of complete graphs, my project focus on constructing and characterising critical families of self-complementary Cayley graphs. This leads to the study of finite groups that have fixed-point-free automorphisms, which has been active in finite group theory. In an effort to construct new examples of self-complementary Cayley graphs, we will classify certain pivotal classes of finite groups that have fixed-point-free automorphisms.

Why my research is important

Ramsey numbers are known to be an important research problem in graph theory. This problem has been studied over decades. As one of the applications to Ramsey numbers, vertex-transitive self-complementary graphs are of great interest.
